Waterbirds on Candid Camera

Sometimes we find what we're looking for where we least expect it.

A great egret stalks prey on a windowsill.
A great blue heron drinks from a swimming pool near Boca Ciega Bay.

I canot get over how close and friendly these birds are...I had a heron briefly visit my pond last year in early spring...

This is very amusing! They look rather elegant with their long legs stalking around the neighborhood!

Yes, these birds are delightful - and quite unafraid of people. I walked right by the blue heron while it was drinking from the pool and it acted like I wasn't there. This gave me time to go get my camera ...

Kate, p3chandan, Carolyn, nice to hear from you! The blue heron looks bluer than usual because of reflections from the pool ...
