Great captures!!! And, I love your birdbath. I guess the birds need to cool off from this heat too.

Karin and Donna, the birdbath has given me and my husband more pleasure than any other purchase we've made in the last five years :)

Excellent shots, Sheila - that Robin sure was enjoying the bath ! I love that last shot best - the robin looks really pleased and relaxed !

Thanks for visiting today !

(I've been to Chapel Hill a few times before - lovely community).

Greggo, Sage, Rick - glad you enjoyed the bath virtually!

Rick, yes, Chapel Hill is lovely - a bit hot this time of year ... Thanks for the visit!

Beautiful action shots! I love how you can see the water spilling over the sides in the last few pictures. Refreshing.

What an absolutely fantastic series of photos. They are absolutely amazing!

I think you should submit one of them to this month's Gardening Gone Wild photo competition, which is all about photographing motion. You can read about it here:

Anyone of them would be a real contender, but most importantly, they made me smile!

Kate, we have to refill the birdbath almost every day because the birds splash most of the water out. Since we don't have a pool, I am refreshed vicariously through them ...

Cathy and Steve, the photos make me smile, too. Thanks for letting me know about the contest - and for your nice feedback. I'm definitely an amateur at photography, so I will have to work up the nerve to enter!

I never tire of watching birds enjoying the baths in the garden. We had an inside pet bird years ago and he liked to sit under a stream of water in the sink... Your series of images was like watching the whole show with that robin!

Incredible images! The robin looks so refreshed. What a great water source you give wildlife.

Linniew, I can picture the pet bird with his private waterfall ...

Meredith, I read somewhere that a water source is even more important to attract birds than a bird feeder.

Sheila, I didn't have a chance to comment when I saw this last week, but what a hoot! That is one happy bird, and the way you "told" the story is just delightful. I'm still smiling about it.
