Well done Sheila! You found a perfect sanctuary. Just read the previous post too and I want to say that NO ONE could expect a gardener to move and not take a couple plants. Honestly it would be like leaving the furniture. I look forward to more on the new gardens!
It does look as amazing as your last garden! And I'm sure your tender care and gardening skills will make it your own special place for this stage in your life. Enjoy!
It looks like a haven already, Sheila! Yay for a sunny area, too, and all those new growing options. Hope it turns out to be a wonderful preserve for all the nature but the deer...
I appreciate all the comments. I'm itching to plant - but highs of around 102 degrees mean no serious planting until fall. But there's plenty of work - the garden has been neglected for several years and there's lots of saplings growing in the wrong places, dead branches on shrubs to prune, etc. And, of course, weeding.
I'm beginning to feel more at home now that I saw a robin splashing in the birdbath. I have been missing all my former bird viewing spots, but there's plenty of birds around - still figuring out the best placement for bird feeders ....

Oh, that is lovely! Looks like a wonderful shade garden!
Ah, but the side of the house seems to get plenty of summer sun. The tomatoes are loving it already.
But yes, the backyard has the wooded garden look I like. Yet there are hydrangeas and roses ( yay!), which I couldn't grow in my old garden.
Wonderful, peaceful and lovely space. Enjoy.
